my life - The diary of a European

Jul. 17th, 2004 03:36 pm my life

Dear Europa,
today I want to tell you something more about my life. I was born in hot 1983 and I wasn't born correctly. I had a verruca on most of my face, on a shoulder and on parts of my chest. As if this wasn't enough, my right eye was half close. So, I gave my parents a joy and a sorrow on the same day. Wonderful, isn't it? Moreover, a brother of my father's died two months later of muscular distrophy. That wasn't what one can call a good beginning. Well, now I'm 21 and I have undergone 19 operations. My face looks much better now but my eye is as it was.
This physical default prevented me from having friends when I was a child and I closed my door to the world. I reopened it later but our mutual relationship is still difficult. I'm very shy, talk little (I prefer writing) and find it very difficult to find good friends where I live or at the university. The only way to get good friends has proved penfriendship: I have wonderful pen friends all over Europe. This can happen because while I write a letter I am alone.
Well, that's enough with the sad moments of my life. I also have good qualities and many interests. You are the most important, as I've already told you. But I also like languages (I have a different knowledge of Italian, French, English, German, Spanish, Esperanto, Latin, Ancient Greek, Czech, Slovenian, Finnish and Romanian), travelling across You, reading poems and writing some when I'm inspired, that is not very often lately (however, I've written many poems in Italian and French plus some in English and one in German). I can let you read some of them if you want.
I like listening to music, mainly Italian and French pop music of the 1960s - 1980s, but I can neither sing nor play an instrument (I'd love so much to be able to play the piano, but I have no time to learn it and, you know, I'm not the most constant person in the world).
I like reading many kinds of books and I always read several books at the same time. I sometimes don't finish some.
Well, you'll learn more about your owner next time.
